  • New hardware for a Windows Server 2008 & SQL Server 2008

    Hi *,

I'll have to acquire a new hardware on which will be installed Windows Server 2008 & SQL Server 2008.
Please provide some examples of what type should it be. Mainly we need a server that's not rack mountable and will be used only for the above roles.
To not be considered as adds to different manufacturers, maybe it's better to send me a private message with the recomanded configuration.

Also what type of RAID it's better for SQL ?

    Thanks in advance.

This is not something that can be easily answered without knowing what your SQL requirements are in terms of:
    database size (including planned growth)
    number of users
    server redundancy requirements

    Suggest:
    RAID 1 for OS
RAID 1 (or 10) for logs
RAID of some sort for databases
