  • Windows 2003 Server Even Viewer

I am running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 cluster. I set the security event viewer to overwrite events as needed, max log size 128000kb.

I log off and on to the server a few times and everything seems OK then a little while later I log on and get a message telling me the secutity log file is full. I click ok and check the security log file permissions to find that overwrite events older than x days is selected.

My colleagues all deny making the changes.

Can anyone give me any idea what is going on?

    many thanks

Re: Windows 2003 Server Even Viewer

    Hello,
Event log settings are also controled by GP.
It seems that when your server refresh its GP it overwrites your manual settings.
GPs are applied in the following order: local GP, site GP, domain GP and OU levels GPs.
Witch one is configured to overwrite your manual settings?

See: GP ->Computer Configuration ->Windows Settings ->Security Settings -> Event log.

    Csaba
