  • Auto Outlook(All) profile creation

    Hi All,
    My line manager has requested for me to look into something for all Outlook versions.
    At our place, whenever somebody logs onto a machine for the first time (on all outlook versions) it asks them to input such information such as User Name & Exchange Server.
    What he is requesting for is that there should be something automatic, so that when Outlook is opened for the first time, Outlook applies the profile to the logged on username.

    For example:
    Active Directory
    ===========
    User Name: JBloggs
    Domain: Company

    Exchange Server
    ============
    User Name: JBloggs (Joe Bloggs)
    Exchange Server: Com-1

    I'm not very good with explaining this kinda stuff, I hope you understand what I mean.

    Thanks,
    Andy

    You could set-up all users with a roaming profile. So when they log onto a new pc on the network they will have the same profile as the PC they were on.

      Hi Michael,
      I doubt that will ever be done here.
      Thanks for the advise anyway!

      =============================

      I found something at a website:
      Office 2003 Resource Kit
      If your deploying software via AD, then you need to configure the Office MSI with a Transcript file (MST) to answer these type questions. The tools are part of the Resource Kit. At my company, I have the exchange server and alot of other settings configured via the MST for company wide rollouts. An individual first time opening their Outlook and they have to wait for nobody to set it up, it's already done.
      Do you know what this means? As in, can you simplify it?

      Cheers,

      Andy

        Or you could use a program called RichProfile creator:

        http://www.msipackager.com/modules.p...download&sid=1

        Run it in the logon script. Works great! Will do just what you want.

                    Download it and look at the readme. Examples are given of how to use it in a login script.

                      Keep in mind this utility (at least as of the version tonyyeb linked to) won't auto-set RPC over HTTP settings. An AutoIT script would be an alternate way to do it.
