  • Active X issues when opening email message with graphics signature

    Hi, All.

I am currently working as a an IT Help Desk and one of our users has an issue when opening email message using Outlook 2003 and encountered the following error which is stated below:

"Your current security settings prohibit running Active x controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly" message"

Here's what I have done so far in relation to the issue:
    • Performed detect and repair in outlook, issue still persists
    • Set internet explorer settings to low, issue still persists
    • Tried repairing office 2003 via add/remove programs, issue still persists

I have done searching all the forums in my quest to get an answer but to no avail. I found out that the cause of the issue is the graphics signature in one of the emails I found while doing the troubleshooting. I tried convincing the user that it was indeed the problematic signature, but user insisted that she is receiving that particular email message on a regular basis and just one day the issue just popped up. I know there must be other way and I hope that all the IT experts, MS Office 2003 specialists in this forum can provide their valuable suggestions and inputs to be able to sort this issue.

Your inputs are welcome. I really need your expertise here.

    Best regards,

First thing, do not double post, it is bad and makes the forum fairys cry.

Secondly, have you checked to make sure that th email he is trying to open does not actuly inculd active X controls?

Thirdly, Tell user that MS releases secruity patchs that increase secruity, one of these could of increased the lvl of secruity, and disabled Active X.

4th, They could of changed there Sig.

5th, Open the Email as a plane text email. That will remove all active X controls. They will lose all images completely, but if they compalne about that, ask them why they have to see the pretty little images to complete there job. And if they say that some phone numbers and Emails are stored as images, email there system admin and advise him to fix his sigs.
