  • Laptop outlook from both LAN/WAN via RPC...accnt autodetect?

    Setup: X2k3 on Server 2k3. Client: XPsp2, Outlook 2k3.

Internal network clients connect to exchange via rpc/tcp.
External clients connect to exchange vie rpc/https.

Some of my users have laptops that must access Exchange from both the LAN and WAN. Is there a way for Outlook to automatically detect which account to use? Can I have both accounts within an individuals profile to point to the same .ost data file for cached mode (one effectively updating the other when it is offline)?

Essentially i would like a laptop user to open up Outlook both in the office and on the road without having to switch/reconfigure/replicate settings.
I have considered roaming profiles, but that does not address the configuration of how a client must connect to the exchange server.
