  • Outlook 2003 Read-Only Issue

    Hello,

I'm having this really strange issue with one of our users. They double click an email, click File and then Copy to Folder. Upon doing this they get the error "You don't have the appropriate permissions to perform this operation". After some investigation I discovered that all of the emails had the word "Read-Only" in the Window Blue bar across the top. I've tried recreating the users Outlook profile, network profile, a brand new PC, checked various settings. I have also removed any folder permissions, Active Directory permissions, moved the users mailbox but they still can't file use this option without getting the error as above.

We are using Outlook 2003 SP1 with Windows XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Re: Outlook 2003 Read-Only Issue

Try checking the properties of the these files:

    outlook.srs
    outlook.dat
    views.dat

or any others in the following location:

    \Document and Settings \ <Username> \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Outlook

It could be these files are read-only and you need to remove that (right click the file, select Properties and make sure Read-only is not checked).
