  • RPC Outlook 2003 XP SP3

    Hello,

I am having trouble getting Outlook 2003 RPC/HTTPS working on an XP SP3 PC.

The same configuration works just fine on a Vista PC. As a result, the following are working or have been tested.

I have setup RPC/HTTPS using the HowTo from this site.
    SSL - Authorized
    OWA - working
    OMA - working
    RPC - working
outlook /rpcdiag - on XP box shows status of connecting only

Basically, I have everything working just fine and have tested all configurations on the XP and Vista box. I just can't get RPC working on the XP box. I also tried a second XP box and got the same responce. So for consistancy I must have something wrong or there is a difference between XP and Vista.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are they both up to date? (thinking root certificates primarily).
    cheers

      Sorry,

Forgot to mention that. Yes both the Server 2003 and workstation are up to date.

Is the initial connection on the LAN?

I am away from those boxes until tomorrow. I will take a look at the rpcdiag and report back.

Sorry, just to confirm, you ran windows update in custom mode?
Does OWA show correctly on XP and Vista?

            XP firewall running?
            cheers

Yes, the XP firewall is disabled.

I ran widows update in express mode.

I did some more trouble shooting to isolate the issue.

I connected the laptop to the internet via a different wireless network and ran Outlook. It connected just fine.

So I believe I have isolated it to an Outlook 2003 on XP or just an XP issue. Here are some more details of my configuration. The servers are on a physically different network. Each network has its own firewall. There is no filtering or port restrictions for outbound traffic. The boxes I am testing with are on the network with all the PCs. The XP box works if I connect it to a different wireless network and connect over the internet, but doesn't work on the local network. The strange thing is that the Vista boxes work just fine.

As a timing note: I am leaving for a vacation and will be back at this Jan 4th.
