  • New mail wont show up in inbox until clicking out of inbox

    Using Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003 in an AD environment users will see in the navigation pane of Outlook that they have,say (12) unread messages indicating that there are 12 new messages but nothing new is in the inbox until you click a different folder (sent items or a user created folder within the inbox for example) then clicking back into the inbox..suddenly the new mail is there. You don't have to do a send/receive or any type of refresh, just simply click out of the inbox then back in and voila, they're there. I've had this problem in the past and just delt with it. Now our CEO is having the problem and that isn't an acceptable solution.

    Cached mode / non cached?
    Tried a new profile?
    Tried a new machine?
    What version of Outlook
    Any plugins?
    AV checked?
    Desktop Firewall enabled?

      Received tab is at the top? If you right click on inbox & choose "open" does that fix it?

        Cached or non Cached, same outcome.
        Tried a new profile but not machine.
        As stated above Outlook 2003.
        No Plugins.
        Desktop Filewall not enabled.

          I'm not sure I know what you mean by the received tab at the top. Haven't tried right clicking on inbox and choosing open. I never really get that opportunity as it's our CEO and he usually just does his thing then complains. If what you're saying does work, would that tell us something?

          This was a problem for just about everybody at a previous job and it was just accepted as a "known issue". Now at this job it's only affecting the top guy.
