  • Put contact names automatically in outlook 2003

    Hello,

A user from our company told me this morning that he can't put names automatically in Outlook anymore. When he is writing a new email, he is usually typing the first letter of a contact and Outlook will list contacts that begins with that same letter (Ex. he's typing M and all the contacts that starts with a M will be displayed and he select the one he wants).

I was wondering if there was an option somewhere to enable this, because I don't know how this "option" works...

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Tools, Preferences, Email Options, Advanced Email Options and the Suggest Names bit at the bottom is the switch to enable and disable it.

    You can reset it here:

Thank you for the information Andy.

With the information you gave me, I found out about the cache file where the autocomplete data was stored (%user profile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.NK2). I restored the file from a backup and everything was back to normal again!

For those who might be interested or don't have a backup of that file , I also found a free software that can rebuild the file from the information that is already available in Outlook. Here's the link:

      Have a nice one!
