  • Use of Outlook.prf for new users

    Outlook 2002 (Office XP Pro) and Exchange Server 2003.

    I have made an Outlook.prf file to set up the connection for Outlook to my Exchange 2003 server. Using among other things
    HomeServer=Exchange servername

    Everything goes well if I run this file manually by double clicking on it, but I can't get it to run automatically when a new user logs into that machine and runs Outlook for the first time.

    I have tried putting the Outlook.prf file in the Windows directory as I read somewhere that Outlook will look for that file there if no valid profile exists. But on my computers the Setup Wizard starts anyway.

    I have also tried putting the ImportPRF subkey in the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Setup as Microsoft says on their website, but that subkey seems not to stay put for new users.

    Anyone here got a solution to my problem? What I want is that Outlook uses Outlook.prf automatically for new users on the machine first time they start Outlook.
