  • Outlook PST file empty after forced shutdown while outlook was open.

    Hi Everyone,

I have a problem with a PST file (outlook 2003). Basically User A was logged into the machine, had outlook open and then locked said machine and walked away and left it overnight. First thing in the morning User B came in, couldn't log off User A, so just turned the machine off and logged on. Sometime after that User A came back, logged in, opened outlook and now gets told that outlook.pst is not a personal folders file or something very similar. When I looked at the size of User A's outlook.pst file, it is 0kb. It should be several hundred Mb. I ran a chkdsk on the machine but couldn't find any files left by chkdsk.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers,

    James

Check under Documents and Settings and see if there is a User A.000 profile. If there is, then the PST will be in the original profile.
