  • recurring appointments Outlook 2003

In Outlook 2003 one user has the following problem:
every appointment made in the Calender appears automatically as a recurring daily appointment. So at the moment it is not possible to make a non-recurring appointment.
What can i do to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

Get them to log onto another machine to see if the fault replicates (I would guess not), also try webmail.
If it is a local issue with the outlook you can see if there are any odd Add-Ins in outlook and maybe delete the profile and re-create.
    cheers

      Re: recurring appointments Outlook 2003

I made a new profile on my pc for the concerning mailbox. The problem persists. All appointment are daily recurring. When i start under my own profile everything works ok. Also when i open a new appointment the settings are that the appointment is scheduled for the whole day and gives a signal 18hrs prior the appointment.

I still don't know how to fix this problem.
      All help is welcome.

      Thanks in advance,

      Bert.

That is odd! (I'm sure you didn't need me to say that..)

If it is persistant across machines then it is an outlook issue. What happens if you create an appointment in webmail, does it revert to recurring? What happens if you change an appointment, does it change back? Cached or non Cached mode?

Not sure what everyone else thinks but if it is just one user you could exmerge the mailbox out and then import it to a blank user and see if the problem is still there.
Any errors in the exchange logs? Backups ok?
        cheers

In Webmail everything seems ok. Appointments do not revert to recurring. I can see appointments in webmail which i can't see in Outlook. In outlook only the date is printed bold, but i can't see any appointments at those specific dates. I ran Outlook in both cached and non cached mode. This made no difference.

It may be persistent across machines, but only for this particular user. Thus i don't think it is an Outlook error.

Yep, that would make sense. Can you try exporting the mailbox?
Is there anything in the logs about the store? Have you got some background info on your Ex setup too?
It may just be a corrupt entry in the store but that is worrying in itself.
            Anyone else got any thoughts?
            cheers

Have you verified that this one user is on the same build (I.E, service pack) as everyone else?

Sorry, I misread this post. I agree with Andy's suggestions. There could be something corrupted with this person's exchange mailbox.

                    Bert,

Does the user happen to have a Dell PC with an application called Media Direct?. If so, please read this link and then uninstall Media Direct.

                      Hi all,

i have exported the mailbox into a .pst, deleted the existing mailbox.
Created a new mailbox for the user and imported the .pst into the mailbox.
All seems to work fine now!

                      Thanks for all your help.

                      Bert.

Glad it works. I would still recommend checking the store at some point though.

Did you try zoeythecat's comment for info?

                          Andy,

                          no i did not!
In the article it is about a Dell laptop with Outlook 2007.
None of these apply to my problem.

This specific store (one of six stores) holds over 1200 mailboxes. Only one mailbox has failed and is now corrected. The store itself seems fine.

                          Thanks,

                          Bert.
