  • Outlook 2003, unable to open other users folder.

When the user attempts to open another users folder in Outlook 2003, an error is returned:
Unable to display the folder. The inbox folder could not be found.

Other users can open this mail box.
The user used to be able open the mail box on a previous machine.
They have a new machine, that they have used file and settings transfer wizard to move over too.

    Any suggestions?
    Where should I look.
I have run systemsinternals file monitor to see if something untward is going on when you click ok on open other users folder, but its didnot indicate any file open / file write failures.

    Dear,

If i understood your question correctly, then the answer is below:

Suppose, user A want to access user B mailbox/Inbox. Then go to AD Users and Computers->open user B Properties->go to Exchange Advanced->Mailbox Rights-> add user A and give required permissions.
I hope your queries will be resolved.
If still any queries, please do reply.

    Regards

The user has the appropriate rights.
They were able to open the mail box with a xp previous machine, in the same domain, same AD login etc.

I have a feeling there is something amiss with the setup of outlook.

Just not sure what, or where to look

        Right.
        Fixed it.

        Removed Office.
        Cleaned up the registry.
        Reinstalled office.

        All working ok now.
