Lync 2013 freezing...

  • Lync 2013 freezing...

    This is only happening on one system that I'm aware of...

    When a call comes in, the client on the computer recognizes is and displays the notification box in the bottom right of the screen as normal. If the call is answered, and even if it is left to ring through to VM, the "system freezes". When I say the system, I mean Lync and Office. Both Lync and Outlook (which are the two most commonly open programs on this system at the same time) will both display "Not Responding" and the user will have to force Outlook/Lync to close.

    My troubleshooting so far...

    1) uninstalled Lync / Reinstalled Lync
    2) uninstalled Office / Reinstalled Office
    3) updated computer
    4) turned on logging within Lync and made test calls = No discernible logs to give me a direction to move in.
    5) checked Windows logs = nothing discernible to point me in the right direction.

    During the uninstall / reinstall of Lync and Office I ran registry cleaners to clean out any left over junk.

    Also, nothing in the Lync logs that would lead me to believe there's an issue there.

    At this point, I'm stumped. This system is virtually brand new but it's not out of the realm of possibility that I will need to wipe/reload though I'm hoping that's a last resort.

    I may try updating Chipset or Bios but I doubt that will have any desired effect.

    Check AV and AV exceptions.
    Check local PC firewall and exceptions.

    Exchange mode, cached or online or is it a PST?
    What happens if you shutdown Outlook and just have Lync?

      Will check firewall today... that's an excellent place to start and I didn't think of it!

      Exchange mode is cached. I'll see if he can shut Outlook down and test that way. That will give me a direction possibly to go in.

      Snooper! I let that one slip through my fingers, much appreciated!
