    You don't specify the Lync version, but the answer (after a quick ) appears to be NO unless you are willing to distribute the cert:

    Since a UC (SAN) cert from e.g. www.godaddy.com (other providers exist) costs about $80 per year, and is very easy to set up, I would not put the effort into dealing with a self-signed one

      No. Lync requires multiple name spaces for meeting URLs, Dialin, Admin, SIP domain etc so you need your own internal CA. If deploying Edge or a reverse proxy you'll need certificates from a Public CA ideally.
