  • OCS 2007 Reboot, Services do not start

    Hello - after applying the lastest patches from MS, when we reboot OCS 2007 servers, the following 2 services do not start (even though set to automatic ... they timeout). They will start manually. Any ideas on how to resolve this? (rather not delay services if possible)
    Office Communications Server IM Conferencing
    Office Communications Server Telephony Conferencing

    OS = Win2K3 SP2

    We have no OCS Telephony in our company, but service should still start. These are the recent patches as well:

    I have a vague memory, almost 2 years ago, of a colleague of mine, who needed to roll back a patch that we pushed out via wsus because it caused those symptoms.

    have you researched the event errors at all, as to why the service won't start ?
    or even just something like "ocs + kb123456 service won't start"

      Thanks for the quick reply ... I thought the same thing, but did not find anything. I did not try the search you suggested, will try that now, thanks.

      Anyone else experiencing this issue?

      We have 5 OCS 2007 FE's and it's happened on all of them.

        Searched for OCS + KBxxxxx services against all the patches that were installed. None hit specifically, but found hit on a patch installed serveral months ago: Kb974571 (I can't post URL's yet )

        Turns out we already applied the "fix" suggested in the article above (OCSASNFix), but we are still seeing the Telephony and IM Conf services not starting. All other services start fine.

        Other thoughts?

          Found answer: KB961569 (still can't post URLs yet)... at least I think it will fix it. I need to first upgrade to .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, then create these 2 .exe.config files. Looks like easy fix.
