  • Logo/ image in email signature

    Hi

Is it possible to put an image in an email signature for OWA on 2010.

Google search offers many solutions , none seem to work , is it true official MS stance is that it does not support images ?

    Regards

    John

How are you setting up the signature?
If its using transport rules, you can use HTML so no reason you can't include an image link - if the URL is publically accessable.

If some other software, what is it?

Third party software is always the way to go when it comes to signature management. That way you can have a uniform signature format that is applied whether the user sends email via Outlook, OWA or Outlook Anywhere.

However images in signatures are a bad idea - without exception.
They cause unnecessary bloat to the database and can cause your messages to be flagged as spam.

If your image is 5k and you have 100 users sending 100 messages a day...
That is 48mb a day of wasted space or around 11gb of wasted space a year (very rough numbers). Remember no Single Instance Storage in Exchange 2010.

If you then decide to link to the image instead, that will be seen by a lot of anti-spam products as beacon and get the message flagged. The URL could break, it doesn't work if the recipient is offline and therefore gives a more impression.

I haven't even touched on being unable to control how the message is rendered at the other end - it isn't unheard of for the image to be stripped off or shown as an attachment.

I can't seem to edit the signature in HTML within OWA

        No other software involved

I totally agree withy what you say, I advised the organisation against the idea for all the reasons you have stated, however they are adamant that they want it.

OK - I didn't click it was "just" the OWA signature

Noting Sembee's comments, have you seen this:

Yes I tried that , there is no way you can paste an image into the signature panel, it just does not want to play ball. Also I could not find the security settings section.
