  • Exchange 2010 The name of the security certificate is invalid

    Hello,

My issue is the following, thanks in advanced . I have a server 2008r2 running exchange 2010. Clients connect externally using outlook 2010 exchange over RPC. I installed a security certificate I purchased from rapidssl.com pointing to the external site name mail.company.com. External outlook connections don't display the error, however when running inside the network, the error" the name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site" shows up.

I'm not using auto discover, I manually configure each client.

    Thanks for the help.

Fairly well known now SSL certs must only use "real" domain names.

    Check these for possible solutions:

Autodiscover is not only used to configure the clients, so you cannot say you aren't using it. Outlook queries Autodiscover multiple times a day for any changes to the configuration. It is also used for the availability service, so if it isn't working you will be unable to set Out of the Office and free/busy information may be incomplete.

      Autodiscover is not optional.
