  • Offline Address Book download: 0x80190197 error

    Hi All,

When I try to download the OAB in Outlook (2010) I get the above error code.

    What I've tried:
    - We do have a proxy, but I've tried turning off the proxy in Internet Options in control panel (Windows 8.1 and Windows 7).
    - The exchange server (2013) is listing the Default GAL as up to date, and if I edit it in the ECP, and click to preview recipients, all the recent users are listed.
    - I've had a look for the local address book and cache folders, I found the latter and renamed it
    - Looking in IIS I can see that the OAB site is using SSL, with client certificates set to "ignore"
    - I've read about BITS 2 issues, but this appears to be related only to Windows XP/2003. At any rate, looks like I'm running BITS v5 based on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...=vs.85%29.aspx
    - I've added "Athenticated Users" security settings to have "read" and "read and execute" in IIS - "Exchange Back End" - OAB - web.config and ran an iisreset

    Still can't get OAB...

Any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Re: Offline Address Book download: 0x80190197 error

i believe the error is most likely due to the proxy configuration... sometimes the turning off the proxy via the internet explorer is not sufficient, especially if everything else is set to use it inside your network.

have you set the proxy for winhttp using the following command:
        Code:
        netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie
when your behind a proxy, windows will never get drivers or updates unless you set the winhttp to use the proxy as well.. idk if that has anything to do with the topic at hand, but thought it might be worth a shot. just make sure that your computer has the proxy is configured, then run the command...

and to undo the above command, you can either remove the proxy and reimport the settings or just run the code below from an elevated cmd

        Code:
        netsh winhttp reset proxy
how do you push your proxy configs? do you wpad or just thru options in DHCP?

do you have any routes defined on your computer that would effect the traffic inside your LAN? are you set to bypass proxy for internal addresses?
its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
Give karma where karma is due...

I'm not very familiar with proxy's yet, I'll do some research on the suggestions you posted and will then look at trying them out - thanks. Though the computers do receive Windows Updates. It does seem to be pointing to the proxy though..

If it turns out to be the proxy as it has been previously with us, you can add a proxy exception for the OAB url.

@uk_network I have the exchange/IIS server listed in proxy exceptions in internet options, is that sufficient?

Ok, further update on this one..

In Outlook, if I go into the address book, some users that are not listing under Global Address List *are* being listed under "All Address Lists - All Users".

                Any thoughts?

Sorry about the delay in responding to this thread, this was put on the back burner..

@uk_network, looks like you were on the right path, when I try to browse to the OAB web site I get the below error message which refers to the proxy.

Looks like we're running IIS 8, where can I find/edit the OAB URL and what would I need to add to accommodate the proxy?

                    Thanks!

I also found this post which I might also look at if the proxy doesn't fix the issue: https://social.technet.microsoft.com...ab-not-working
