  • OWA iOS App Offline Access

We have a new install of Exchange 2013 and want to restrict offline access to mailboxes. We have configured Organization Policy Controls to disabled offline use by running:

    Set-OwaMailboxPolicy –AllowOfflineOn NoComputers
    Set-OwaVirtualDirectory –AllowOfflineOn NoComputers

This does not have any impact on the OWA App from the Apple AppStore as users can still open mail in their mailboxes whilst offline.

Is there anyway of stopping this?

    Thanks

Unless I am misunderstanding you, it appears as though you want to disable OWA and ActiveSync access for everyone, then enable it for certain individuals. If this is the case, then I believe these articles may give you the commands you are looking for:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...hg.150%29.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...hg.150%29.aspx

For example, to turn these two services off for everyone in your organization you could run the following command:

    Code:
    Get-CASMailbox | Set-CASMailbox -OWAEnabled $false -ActiveSyncEnabled $false
Let us know if this helps.

I believe they wish to disable the offline feature of the OWA App in the AppleStore, which I don't know. All I know is that in the past, there was the iPhone Configuration Utility that allowed some control of the Apple IOS but have not used it for a few years now.

The ability to allow offline access to OWA as you can now with Outlook in cached mode, is now possible in Exchange 2013 when using IE10 and above and other supported browsers. I am yet to see a customer who has chosen to allow it.

        My apologies for the misunderstanding!

(On a side note - why would Microsoft enable such a feature by default? Madness!)
