  • We need to copy email from an outgoing domain to a new domain.

    Hello,
We are changing domains and are looking for a way to forward or carbon copy incoming mail at the Exchange server from the old email addresses to the new email addresses. While at the same time having all the outgoing mail come from the new email addresses and domain.
Can anybody provide me with ideas on how to do this?
    Thanks

Why would you want to forward the email to a different system?

Add the new domain to the Accepted Domains in Exchange, then add the new domain to your E-mail Address Policy and set it as the reply address.

Well to start with, it is not a different system, It is the same system and we are going to a new domain.

We want is to leave the old addresses active on the exchange server but not on the Clients. So when mail is sent to the old addresses it is forwarded to the clients at the new addresses.

SO create an address policy that adds the new addresses and sets them as primary - no need to create additional accounts, and email will still come in on the old address, but only send from the new one

OK, well you're misusing the term "forward" and you're misunderstanding how to configure and manage Exchange. When you say you want to "forward" the email that implies forwarding it from one user or system to another user or system. That's not what you want to do. You want email that is addressed to the new domain to be delivered (not forwarded) to the correct user at the old domain. In this case, do exactly as I've outlined in my answer.
