  • Exch2010 Server Configuration

I have Exch2003 and Exch2010 in the org.

Below is the capture screen of EMC Server Configuration.

CA,HUB and Mailbox is point to mail1 (as below).

mail1 is a DC, GC, DNS and Exch2003.

I want to remove mail1 from the org (uninstall exch2003 1st, then depromote mail1).

    Question:

If i remove mail1, will EMC automatically detect the other AD, DC?

out of curiousity, can we manually determine/set which DC/GC we would like to us

what criteria does it take to select the DC/GC?

You certainly can with EX 2003 but I would have to ask why.

The Exchange system is smart enough to look for the correct servers it requires so let it do it on it's own.

                Re: Exch2010 Server Configuration

While you have Exchange installed on a domain controller you cannot use any other domain controller in Exchange. Therefore you need to uninstall Exchange 2003 from the DC and then reboot it.
Immediately afterwards, reboot the Exchange 2010 server. This will force Exchange to go through a complete lookup of the domain and find the other domain controllers.
