  • EXCH2013 and shared inboxes

New Win Serv 2012 St Ed, installed new Exch 2013 Ent Ed CU2.

when sharing an inbox in the users Outlook profile they can send or reply as the share inbox, but mail goes into the users sent item or deleted items and not into the shared inbox.

Example: Customer Support - shared inbox, all proper access

User#1, replies to an email in the CS inbox but mail goes into User#1 sent items.

    how can I change that.

both inboxes are in User#1 outlook 2013 profile.

    hope that clears it up.

Add the second account as an additional ACCOUNT, not an additional mailbox.
So go through the new Account wizard.
That will put the emails in the correct place, plus give you notifications on the second account, rules etc.

    Simon.

      Re: EXCH2013 and shared inboxes

hmm that seemed to work but not for everyone that needs to share inboxes.

      1. user
      2. customer shared email inbox.

from the EAC, I select the customer support shared, then mailbox delegation, add users. I also add the same users in Send As selection.

go over to the users desk. From outlook I click File, click the + Add account and I add the customer service inbox to their profiles.

I create a new e-mail from the CS inbox, lets me select the From tab, make sure it's CS inbox and not their personal one and send mail. Mail goes into the users sent items.

Same thing for forwarding existing mail in the CS inbox.

Also if I create an email from the shared inbox from some users it goes into the outbox and never actually sends out.

      what am I missing here?

      thanks.

Ignore the delegate stuff - undo whatever you did there.
In ECP, just add both Send As and Full Mailbox. No need to do anything in ADUC.

            Simon.

Full mailbox? No such add, in EAC, I select the shared mailbox, click on mailbox delegation and add a user, under the Sand As, I do the same, just add the user.

If you have added the user to all three options under Mailbox Delegation, that is wrong.
You should only add them under two - Either Send As or Send on Behalf of and then Also under Full Access. DO NOT add to both Send As and Send on Behalf of.

                Simon.

ok in EAC, I go to recipients, then click on Shared.

I double click the shared inbox, click on Mailbox delegation and their are only TWO options to add a user in.

                1. Full Access - so I add a user in there
                2. Send As - so again I add the same user.

                  now the issue is weird.

I can get users to email out of the Shared inbox and mail goes to correct Sent items folder.

but now the users are saying that the incoming mail to the Shared inbox doesn't come in at the same time.

                  4. users logged in to Outlook with their personal inbox, I added the Shared inbox to all 4 users.

mail delivers to shared inbox but shows up at different times in each users profile.

That is because of the way Outlook communicates with the server. Here at home, I have my email on three machines and two mobile devices and they will all ping at different times. Nothing you can do to have it happen exactly at the same time.
