  • Rollup 2 Exchange 2010 SP3 Install Fails

Trying to install Windows Update KB2866475 Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3.

Tried on different servers in our environment. On one got the following error codes: 80070643, 80246007

Also tried downloading the rollup and installing manually. Received the following error:"Setup wizard for update rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3 (KB2866475) ended prematurely

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    -Chris

Re: Rollup 2 Exchange 2010 SP3 Install Fails

The rollup requires the Exchange 2010 SP3 installation file to be where they were when you installed the service pack. Therefore if you have removed them, you need to put them back.

Anotehr admin applied SP3 and they also removed/deleted the install files or location so have no way to know. Can we remove SP3 from the Exchange server and reapply it to establish the baseline and location for this update and any future updates?

Re: Rollup 2 Exchange 2010 SP3 Install Fails

        No you cannot remove SP3.

Download Exchange 2010 SP3, and also download the rollup manually. When you attempt to install the rollup it will throw an error message which should include the location.

Although even with Windows Update the error message should up with the location shown.
