  • Exchange 2010 shared mailbox rules

    Hope someone can assist!

    OK, here goes. Main mailbox is called:

    Main Folder
    Mailbox = [email protected]

    Sub-Folders

    SubfolderA = [email protected]
    SubfolderB = [email protected]
    SubfolderC = [email protected]

    So as you can see each one of these sub-folders have an email address for them, the thing we are trying to accomplish is to have it so that whenever an email is sent to any of the sub-folders email address, that email gets moved to the corresponding folder.

    The mailbox rules are setup as follows:
    When the message is sent to [email protected] it gets moved to folder SubfolderA and so on for all the other folders.

    Issue we are running into is that it keeps resolving to the main folders email address.

    Surely folders in a mailbox don't have individual addresses - they share the parent address.

    Are you by any chance talking about mail-enabled sharepoint lists?

      I am presuming that additional addresses have been placed on the account, which need to be moved to each folder.
      Sent to isn't going to work. You will have to use the header information to sort the email. That is only going to work for external email though, not internal.

      Personally I would have used a group.
      Create a group for each email address and made the mailbox a member of the group. You can then filter for email sent to that group and it will work for both internal and external email.

        No, the folders themselves don't have address' but address were created to emaciate with these folders so that mails to that specific address can be placed in that specific folder.

          Simon, much appreciated. I will look into that as a possible solution!
