  • Exchange 2010 additional CAS server

    Hi All,

Quick question regarding CAS server role in Exchange 2010. We are in the process of upgrading to Ex2010 from 2007.

The majority of users are still on the 2007 environment while one server with the 2010 CAS role has been installed. I have also installed a number of 2010 mailboxes at different locations.

My question is, on one of the 2010 mbx servers can I simply add the CAS role on it meaning the local users will use the mbx and cas roles locally.

Currently adding a CAS array is not an option.

    Thanks in advance!!

You can still install a CAS aray with 1 CAS server. The CAS server does not need to be on the MB server that the user will be accesing. If you are using the CAS array name, they just use that name to connect to their Mailbox on the OUtlook profile otherwise the name of a CAS server. The CAS server will use AD to determine the MB server that hosts their Mailbox.

As recommended, setup a CAS aray anyway. Furthermore, look at Legacy redirection and the EXdeploy assistant.

Also, use a 3rd Party SSL certificate with the CAS server.
