  • 'The message contains a content type that is not supported'

    Morning all,

I wasn't sure to put this under sbs or exchange 2003 or here but here goes....

Set up my new SBS2011 server a few weeks ago and all is working fine except I cannot recieve a number of server reports sent to me by various SBS2003 servers. Send a standard email it works fine, try and send a report it bounces with :- (names have been changed)

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Server Performance Report - SBS2003
    Sent: 16/05/2012 06:00

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

    [email protected] on 16/05/2012 06:00
The message contains a content type that is not supported
    <madeupdomain2.com #5.6.0 smtp;554 5.6.0 Invalid content>

My recieving mailsever Exchange 2010. Sending mailserver Exchange 2003. I assume the issue lies with my Exchange 2010 mail server as my pervious Exchange 2007 mailserver (retired a few weeks ago) recieved the reports without any issues.

How can I instruct Exchange 2010 to recieve these emails?

    Many thanks

    Dave

Re: 'The message contains a content type that is not supported'

The usual cause of those errors is the content filtering agent for antispam. Therefore I would suggest you start by disabling that, restarting Transport.
Although I have SBS 2003 servers sending me email and don't see the same problem, so I would suspect it could be a third party sevice somewhere between the sender and the recipient is breaking the content.

      Doh!!

And there was me routing through exchange logs trying to find out why it was being bounced. You were quite right, ESET for exchange has a spam filter that's what was causing it...!!

      Awesome thanks mate!!
