  • DSN Max Message Attach Size setting

I was wondering what the Internal and External DSN Max Message Attach Size actually does. I want to ensure that the Exchange 2010 with SP1 system allows messages of up to 30MB. Global settings and receive connectors have been configured as required. No settings for message size exist directly on the user account. I examined the Transport Config settings and noticed a 10MB limit on the DSN Max Message Attach Size and was proposing to run the below.

    Set-TransportConfig -InternalDsnMaxMessageAttachSize 50MB
    Set-TransportConfig -ExternalDsnMaxMessageAttachSize 50MB

Do I need to? Does this impact the maximum message size you can send and receive?

Not that I have tested this yet, but I would think that configuring the message size for DSNs would affect DSN messages only.

In all installations I have supported so far I have never changed this settings, the normal max message settings you already named worked well.

I see, thanks. Same here and then stumbled upon the setting. Have left it as it is.
