    Re: Outlook Connecting issue

    To clarify:
Connecting by server name from OWA works, connecting by name from Outlook on the same client doesnt?
    And ditto for IP?

Have you tried a new outlook profile?
Have you checked the hosts file (shouldn't be an issue if it is the same client)?

Was that dead server removed correctly? If not then you need to remove it. The only supported way is to DR the server back again and then remove it using add/remove programs.

      Thus:

      1. Build a new server with the same name as the dead server.
      2. RESET (DO NOT DELETE) the Computer account in AD.
      3. Add the server to the domain.
      4. Install Exchange pre-requisites.
      5. Install Exchange from the command line using setup.com /recoverserver
      6. Once installation is complete, remove Exchange using add/remove programs.
      7. Drop the machine in to a work group and wipe.

A VM is fine for this job.

I would also advise configuring an RPC CAS array. That will ensure this kind of problem doesn't happen again as you can direct the RPC CAS Array host name to another server and the clients continue to work.
