  • Unable to send to yahoo domains

Hi everyone, could someone help me to resolve this challenge. My exch server send to other domains but yahoo. The mails queue up on the server with error msg 421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to socket error. I have tried out quite a number of measures but to know avail. The ISP told me there was no problem at their end. I have similar submissions in the forum but could still not resolve the challenge, but I have confidence that the forum could help me out based on what I have read sop far. MANY THANKS.

Check for blacklisting of your public IP
Does your ISP offer a smarthost to relay through -- if so, try using that

yahoo is notorious for greylisting, you need to up your retry count.

II have check for blacklist and no one is blacklisting my ip for now. I also observe that at times, few of the mails may go while most failed to deliver.

Thanks Ossian. I have checked the public ip against any blacklist and there is none. Other mails are delivered but yahoo mails are not.

Re: Unable to send to yahoo domains

ISPs will never admit there is a problem with their network. Their data centre could be on fire and they would say there is no problem - although that could be that the first line support person doesn't know there is a problem.

If you are having problems emailing Yahoo then that could be an issue with your firewall, particularly if it does SMTP scanning of any description. Turn those kinds of features off. If you cannot, or you don't have any, then use a Send Connector to route email for Yahoo and their associated domains via your ISPs SMTP server instead as a smart host.

Yahoo does not do greylisting. They do something similar, but not true greylisting.

            Simon.
