  • Exchange 2010 in Child Domain

    HI All,

I need to merge companya to Company b ( Forest setup like below)

Parent domain in USA- parent.com( got exchange server)

Australia child Domain - aus.parent.com -( got exchange server 2003- OWA)

Sydney child Domain of above- syd.aus.parent.com ( got exchange 2003- mailbox only and use OWA for Parent)

now i'm going to create one for melbourne melb.aus.parent.com

So how do i install the Exchange 2010 in melb.aus.parent.com domain?

or what is the best way to minimise the downtime?

Re: Exchange 2010 in Child Domain

Run Setup with (IMHO) \preparealldomains (assuming permission is OK) and \legacyexchange (check exact syntax) then install 2010 into the melb domain

But also ask yourself -- do you really need the hierarchy, or will a single aus domain be sufficient?

Re: Exchange 2010 in Child Domain

You have one Exchange organisation that is in the Forest. You are upgrading to Exchange 2010. Ossian's recommendation ensures that the relevant ADPREP for the domain is carried out, which allows Exchange servers to be added to the new domain.
