  • exchange migration issue

I have a windows 2003 server with exchange 2003 I setup a new DC with 2008 server and exchange 2010 I migrated everything over to the new exchange 2010 box and everything seems well but if i shutdown the 2003 server then outlook says cant connect to server. I check the outlook settings and its pointing to the new server name. I dont know what i missed when i did the migration. Any suggestions?

Also when i run BPA i get this error only "Active Directory domain 'DOMAIN' has an unrecognized Exchange signature. Current DomainPrep version: 12639."

Ignore the BPA issue - that is known.

Have you removed Exchange 2003 correctly? You need to follow the instructions from Microsoft for removing the last legacy Exchange server. Shutting it down on its own is not enough. Moved things like public folders and the public folder tree? Checked the public folder database on Exchange 2010 is set to the 2010 database? Lots of things to check, all of which are covered in the MS documentation on removing Exchange 2003.
