    Probably one for Sembee

Is it possible to have multiple GALs in Exchange 2010 and hide all but one from users?

Scenario: Holding Company with multiple (about 6) sub-units, wants to have single exchange organisation but almost total separation between them -- certainly one unit should not see others without permission.

    Current environment:
Single (new) AD forest at 2008R2 FL
Legacy Exchange (SBS 2003, Exchange 2003 and one Exchange 2007) Users currently log into main forest, then separate logon to appropriate Exchange forest
Clients: Outlook 2003 to 2010, plus OWA. About 150 users.

Currently it seems to be unsupported ( unless going into multi-tenant mode, which I presume will have major licensing implications and doesnt appear to support Outlook 2003 anyway (

Any advice on implementing this, or do I tell the client "not yet"?

    Re: Exchange 2010 Segregated GAL

    Not yet.
There is no supported segregated GAL solution for Exchange 2010. It is part of Exchange 2010 SP2 (See the Exchange team blog) but don't expect to see that for a little while yet - it hasn't even reached BETA stage.

Hosting mode would require a completely new forest - migrations are not supported. Outlook 2003 isn't supported because Public Folders are not supported.
