  • Can't run setup /prepdomain after rollup has been installed

    Greetings:

    I'm running Exchange 2007 Version: 08.01.0375.002 (Windows 2008 x64 server) in a Windows 2003 native AD environment.

I want to include another domain but am running into an error when I do the following:

    Code:
    C:\Setup /PrepareDomain:domain2.contoso.com

Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup

    Preparing Exchange Setup

Exchange Server setup encountered an error.
I'm just assuming that this won't run because we have rollups installed (We're on rollup 8 ). I can't readily determine the location of logfile that will tell me exactly what the problem is.

Any assistance (as always) is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Download Exchange 2007 SP3 and prep from that. You will need to prep your forest and other domains as well. It is non-destructive and doesn't cause any downtime. SP1 is very old.

Wow.. I was just kicking around the sp3 idea this morning. Good to see a confirmation!

So I can assume that it was rollups causing a version mismatch and the consequent setup error?

        I wouldn't know.
I would simply see the old version was being used and would recommend a move to the latest version, whether it was generating an error or not.
