  • Remove Edge role from Exchange 07 environment

    Hi Team,

I have an Exchange 07 doing Edge Transport, we initially did edge sync to our Hub server.
but now we decided Edge server is not fit our environment. I need to remove it from my this environment.

I also have error in my event view.
"Inbound direct trust authentication failed for certificate CN=xxx-Edge. The source IP address of the server that tried to authenticate to Microsoft Exchange is [192.168.xxx.xx]. Make sure EdgeSync is running properly.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at "

What is the best way to do this?

    Thanks,
    HN

I remember seeing this error if you have installed SMTP from IIS on Exchange Server. In order to remove Edge role, you need to remove its subscription and delete it.Check the link below

Re: Remove Edge role from Exchange 07 environment

        Thanks Team..
The edge was successfully removed over the weekend.

What I did was, I run Remove-RoutingGroupConnector -Identity myEdgeServer command on the edge.
Edge was uninstalled after that command ran.

        Thanks.
