  • 2003 OWA and OMA is not working behind Exch 07

    Hi Team,

I need some directions if someone willing to help me..
    Here is my environment....

We have Exch 2007 infront of Exch 2003.
Exchange 2007 can connect via outlook anywhere and ActiveSync fine. but Exch 2003 users cannot connect via outlook anywhere and activeSync.

The internal mail flow is fine.. 2007 and 2003 users are communicate fine except outlook anywhere and mobile outlook access.

Where can I go from here?

    Thanks,
    HN

    i'm fairly sure you can't have a 2007 FE to a 2007 mbx server.

I think tehcamel meant that you cannot have a 2007 FE to a 2003 mbx server. I do agree with that. OWA can use a redirect to connect, I don't know about mobile access.

That what I find is so interesting.. Im not sure if I miss something on the configs somewhere.. I'm pretty other ppl in a simular situation as me where they have existing 03 environment.. and installed 07 FE while the two system running side by side.

my 03 user can connect via 07 CAS server fine, the 07CAS is is forwarding user info to 03 server. but why not outlook anywhere and mobile devices that using activeSync?

        Thanks,
        HN

You are getting your versions incorrect.
You can have Exchange 2007 proxy to Exchange 2003, and it doesn't redirect.
It is Exchange 2010 that you cannot use a CAS server as a frontend server, and it only redirects.

However you will have to configure Exchange 2003 to be a backend server in RPC over HTTP settings in ESM and you will need to enable Outlook Anywhere on the CAS server.

ActiveSync usually fails because the virtual directories are not at the default settings. I would probably suggest that you reset them.
