  • Move Exchange 2007

Need to move exchange 2007 to a new server, first time moving. Does anybody have any hints or tips before I start my adventure?

It is very easy. A lot easier than Exchange 2003.
Get the public folder data across first, then the new SSL certificate. Mailbox data should be done last.

Can I just use the current SSL certificate and move it over or does it have to be new? What is the best way to move over OWA?

A new certificate would be required if you are using a different machine name.
To retain the same machine name puts the data at significant risk, as you have to do a backup/restore migration which can easily go wrong. For the sake of $70, it isn't worth it.

OWA is moved by simply switching the firewall across.

If I change the name then I will have to change the settings for all client accounts. Do you have instructions for your method of moving the Exchange? Let me know. thanks.

No you won't, so long as all of the clients connect to Exchange with the both servers still turned on they will automatically update themselves with the new server name.
