  • Distribution Lists to send mail

Is it possible so that we can use distribution lists to send emails?. At present we are in the process of migrating over to exchange 2010. We have a number of distribution lists on our pop3 server that also are setup as mail accounts on as additional mailboxes. Can we setup distribution lists so that they can send emails?. Or will it be a case of setting up a separate user account, creating a mailbox with this user name. Then assign send as privaliges to the require users so that they can send mails from this account?.

You can grant Send As permissions on a group, so that a user can choose it to populate the From field in Outlook. The sent message will remain in their own mailbox.

The group will need to be visible in the GAL for you to do that.
