  • Exchange 2007 Storage Mounting Problem

    Hi,

I am using microsoft exchange 2007, It was working fine all these days, today morning my McAfee Scanner was deleted one transaction log file from the storage group. So the storage groups are not mounting, My unfortunate is my data backup device also failed.

Can anyone guide me to mount the storage group through only the EDB files?

Since you are mostlikely in a dirty shutdown you have to repair the database(-s). Look into eseutil:
        http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...CHG.80%29.aspx

For the future Exchange directories and/or file types used by Exchange (*.log, *.edb, *.chk) have to be excluded from file scanning AV software.

McAfee has a habit of doing this.
You need to ensure that it is not scanning the database or the transaction log location.

As for the situation you are in now, you will have to go through a database recovery procedure. That will mean scanning the database to get back to a clean shutdown state so that it can be mounted again. You will then need to take a backup immediately after mounting it.
That is all documented on Technet in the database recovery section.

If the database is quite large, then it can take some time to repair.
While waiting, correct the McAfee configuration to ensure it isn't scanning something it shouldn't be.

          Simon.
