  • FSW on same exchange server

we planned to implement a exchange 2010 server with 2 servers ( cas,hub & mail in each) and a storage box.Once configured this setup will be hosted in ISP area.

AD domain and mail security will be installed in our environment.

    1. can i use FSW in one of the exchange server at hosted place?

    2. This seperated setup will cause any problems when AD, mail security in our environment and exchange server in hosted environment?

    Pl. advise. Thanks.

Re: FSW on same exchange server

If your design doesn't include a domain controller with the Exchange servers you really should reconsider the design.
Separating Exchange from DCs by a WAN is not a good idea, and it doesn't matter how fast the WAN connection is. Exchange is a very heavy user of the DC functionality and needs a DC as close as possible. Lose the WAN and Exchange is dead in the water. It cannot operate without a DC. Therefore your advantages of putting Exchange in the data centre are gone.

Put a third server in the data centre, make it a domain controller and then use that machine as the FSW. I have done that on more than one occasion and it works well.
