  • Can't remove Exchange 2007 - How to disable autodiscover ?

    Hi.

We can't get rid of Exchange 2007 on our 2008 server. We have moved the mails over to Office 365, but still need the old server as domain controller and files server. However, when setting an email account up on an Outlook client on the network, it sees Exchange 2007. We can override that by changing the DNS on the client computer and set them to Google or Opendns. However, then some resources on the domain become then unavailable.
Removing the Exchange server through the Programs removal in the control panel fails with an error. Using the command line fails as well. We have tried stopping some Exchange services, but it didn't help.
We simply want Exchange not showing itself to the Outlook clients on the local network : is there a simple way to achieve this ? It doesn't matter for us if it is running or not, simply not be seen or interfering with the Outlook clients...

    Thank you for your help.

You should disable the Autodiscover Service Connection Point. This article details several methods:
