  • How to redirect incoming email

    Hi,

Currently when external users send incoming emails to our Exchange server, it goes through a 3rd party POP3 supplier --> Then Firewall --> And then Exchange server

How can I remove the POP3 supplier and have the email come directly into our firewall --> then into our exchange server?

    What steps must be performed?

    Thanks,
    K

Re: How to redirect incoming email

You must firstly make sure your exchange saerver is properly configured.
THere are plenty of guides on how to do this on the internet.

Then you need to forward port 25 from your firewall to your exchange server
then you must change your dns MX records to point your static ip address on your firewal.

You mut turn off the POP3 feature and turn on the SMTP for receiving mail. BUT you then have no protection for SPAM so will need to configure filters or get some software to do it or configure the microsoft trialsoftware.

you would need to reconfigure clients, to use exchange mapi rather than the external pop3.
