  • Exchange 2007 EAP not applying

    Hello,

Hoping someone can help on problem I have been experiencing all day.

Currently running Exchange 2007 SP2 RU4 in a CCR environment.

At the moment we are in the middle of a transition from 2003 to 2007. Everything has being going well. Until today!

    I currently have 4 EAP's
1 is a mailbox manager from the 2003 system
2 Default Policy (can't amend anything ) from 2003 system
3 is our standard one applied to every mailbox.
4 is based on a custom attribute field.

3 and 4 are working as expected. If I add the required custom attribute on to a mailbox user the EAP is applied instantly.

Today I tried creating another EAP based on a different custom attribute. When I attempt to apply it I receive the following error.

    User 1:

    Warning:
Failed to update recipient: USER The following Exception occurred: Exchange Server 2007 <CMS1> returned am error -2147023286 from the address list service.

    User 2:

    Warning:
Failed to update recipient: USER The following Exception occurred: Exchange Server 2007 <CMS1> returned am error -2147023653 from the address list service.

    User 2:

    Warning:
Failed to update recipient: USER The following Exception occurred: Exchange Server 2007 <CMS1> returned am error -2147023653 from the address list service.

These errors occur when i was applying the policy through the EMC on my workstation.

If I tried the same from the Active node hosting the CCR.
Both The Edit and the Apply Complete (however it does it extremely quick and I don't think it is even attempting to apply.

There are no errors in the Event log (turned up Diagnostic logging on the MSExchangeAL.

I have moved the CCR from one node to another and I have restarted the System Attendant.

This is affecting 2003 and 2007 users.

The odd thing is if I add the custom attribute to a user via EMC for Policy 4. The address is updated instantly.

I am not sure what else to try has anyone got any suggestions?

can you post the configuration of the EAP? most of the times i've seen this error its been due to improper formatting in the addresses.

      %g.%[email protected]
      %1g%[email protected]

(These policies weren't custom and were picked from the available options)

They are looking for Custom attribute1 and Exchange Mailboxes.

The other common reason can be the name of the policy. Trailing space, brackets etc.
