  • Mailing List with external email addresses in Exchange 2010

I am looking for an easier way to maintain a distribution group (mailing list) within Exchange 2010 with primarily external email addresses. I know I can create a contact and add that contact to multiple lists, but that can be very time consuming.

I will give you a run down on what I really want to accomplish. Currently we use a web based Exchange alternative email server software that has mailing list software built in. The management is very easy as all you do to add an email address to it, it add a subscriber and type the address. This also enables it as a whitelist poster to the list. These are all external email addresses and the list has a public email address [email protected]. By having white listed posters, this completely eliminates any spam messages going to the members of the list.

Does anyone know if this is possible within Exchange 2010 already (I looked around but could not find a way) or are there any 3rd party applications that woudl accomplish this?

    Any help is appreciated.

There is no list server functionality in Exchange.
There are lots of options outside Exchange and that is what I would suggest that you use. A third party service or product would be able to cope with the unsubscribe requests, bounces and general issues, plus provide reporting.
