  • Setting up a secondary exchange 2007 server

    Hello everyone... new person in town... a newbie actually
    Can you give me some help...

    I tried to setup a secondary exchange 2007 server... the primary was settled by somebody...but cant reach him anymore...

    So, as i remember in exchange 2003 there was a link (clickable) in the setup screen that tell about adding secondary exchange server in the domain.
    But, i dont find anykind of that link in exchange 2007 setup screen...
    Well, kind of confusing me try to googgled and get not exactly what i need...

    I tried to install Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2003 R2 SP2 box...


    Please, anyone with better knowledge would share the power with me..

    No idea what you are on about with regards to a screen for setup of a second server in Exchange 2003 - nothing like that. As long as the two servers are in the same forest then you simply install Exchange. The second server will know about the first one automatically - nothing else has to be done.

    I would also suggest that you download Exchange 2007 SP3 and install that rather than SP1, also update the existing server to the latest service pack. SP1 is quite old now.
    The service pack downloads are the complete product, so a new installation can take place from that.

      Fogive me master... Perhaps my brain got a leak somewhere...

      Well, i've done that, but there some error i get, here what the screen look like...

        I don't link at links on other sites. Therefore you will have to write what the errors state.

          This is the error state:

          1. On Primary Exchange 2007 server an error occured:
          Code:
          get-StorageGroupCopyStatus
          
          Error:
          Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.
          2. On Secondary Exchange 2007 server a warning occured:
          Code:
          get-OWAVirtualDirectory
          
          Warning:
          Object 21-MAILSERVER\owa (Default Web Site) has been corrupted and it is in inconsistent state. The following validation errors have been encountered:
          
          Warning:
          '.xlsx' is not a valid  value for WebReadyFileTypes. Valid values are: '.doc,.dot,.rtf,.xls,.ppt,.pps,.pdf'.
          
          Warning:
          '.pptx' is not a valid  value for WebReadyFileTypes. Valid values are: '.doc,.dot,.rtf,.xls,.ppt,.pps,.pdf'.

            The second error means you haven't got the Office 2007 filters installed. The installer should have flagged that as an error. Installing the Office filters is documented on Technet.

            The first error means what it says. As you haven't stated the circumstances that the error has occurred, it is impossible to know whether it is a problem or not.

            Your best option is probably to bring in a consultant to setup your Exchange server.
