  • Outlook keeps prompting for password?

    Hey all

    Setup is SBS2008/Exch2007

Outlook Anywhere is set up properly with 3rd party certs etc.

Domain PC - never asks for password
Non-Domain Laptop - Never asks for password
Non-Domain Home PC - never asks for password

Recently set up 4 additonal users who I am hosting email for, completely external to my company.

Copied the Exchange Proxy setting from the above machines, but they all intermittently ask for a password. Sometimes, they connect right away without asking at all (perfect) but more often that not it will prompt.

Now, these 2 of these new external users are joined to a different domain, whilst the other 2 are not on any domain. I thought the fact that the PC's were joined to another domain caused issues...but its the same even fo the non-domain PC's.

Mixtures of Win 7-Vista-XP and Outlook 2010/2007

I'm not sure where to begin looking if I'm honest.

FWIW the Exchange Proxy Settings are:

    Always connect with SSL
    On fast networks, Use HTTP...
    On slow networks, Use HTTP...
    NTLM Auth

    Suggestions appreciated.

Well known issue with Exchange 2007 SP1 rollup 9 on SBS 2008.
Approve Rollup 10 or install Exchange 2007 SP3 (preferred option).

Re: Outlook keeps prompting for password?

Everytime I try to install SP3 it says:

"A reboot from a previous installation is pending. Please restart the system and rerun setup"

"Error: Setup cannot continue with the upgrade becuase the "dllhost" () process (ID:5396) has open files. Close the process and restart setup.

Restarted a few times, still wont have it?

Not sure if its linked, but Update Rollup 4 for SBS2008 (KB979454) wont install either, failed everytime with error Code 6BA Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Remove any updates for Exchange that are installed on the system, then reboot the server.
If that error continues, then stop and disable the Exchange services, then reboot the server. Change the services pack to automatic but do NOT start them. Try the install again.
