  • Exchange User CAL Inquriy

    Dear All,

We recently are doing exercise for buying CAL for our exchange 2010, we have 'x' number of user CAL. this is ok and counts one user CAL for one user. But in our environment we also have many service accounts like some applications which are monitoring our environment all the time and triggers an email in abnormal situation based on defined threshold. So for those how to treat them, are they also counted as user CAL OR no need to count them for anything ?

How about accounts like, info, resume, jobs, how they are treated ?

    waiting for response.

    Regards,
    Wajeeh

AFAIK additional mailboxes sending alerts do not count as user CALs - only users connecting to Exchange count

Having said that, I will append my usual disclaimer about MS licensing - the only authoritative answers to licensing questions are

    c) you then choose the most cost effective of n+1 totally different answers given to you by n different people
