  • Migrate Exchange 2007

I have one server Windows 2003 Enterpise who are roles: Domain Controller, Exchange (hub, mailbox, cas), CA. I want to move all roles on anither server.
I installed Windows 2003 Enterprise, CA on one server, and Exchange on second server.
I have 2 problems, i can't acces with Outlook from outside of domain the new exchange server, i think is a problem with certificate who i issued.
And second problem exchange servers can't acces the new domain controller in Exchange Management Console/Server Configuration/ Properties /system settings (appear one DC).

    Please advise me!

    Re: Migrate Exchange 2007

If Exchange is installed on a domain controller then it will only use that domain controller. That goes for ALL Exchange servers. Therefore until you remove Exchange from that domain controller it will be the only one they use.

DO NOT remove the domain controller functionality from the Exchange server, nor global catalog. That will break Exchange.

As for the certificate, you really should use a commercial certificate. Self generated certificates are nothing but a pain to manage, and simply not worth it. When you can get a commercial UC certificate for less than $80, using self signed certificates simply isn't a good use of time.

      Re: Migrate Exchange 2007

I made another test now and i put second Exchange on second DC, and second Exchange use second DC.
Regarding certificate for first exchange (who is installed on DC), I did connect with an outlook client from outside of the domain with certificate who is automatically generate on this machine (where i have DC, EXCHANGE and CA), my question is who I could generate for second exchange one certificate from CA?

Can't answer CA questions as I never deploy Exchange of any description with an internal CA. I only use commercial certificates - no exceptions.
