  • AD 2003 to 2008 w/ Exchange left in

I'm looking at doing an AD migration from 2003 in domain xyz.com to a new 2008 AD abc.local basically restructuring the domain and starting from scratch on the new side. I'm going to move everything thing from left (the old domain) to the right (the new domain) but I'm going to leave the 2007 Exchange in the old domain for the time being and I wanted to get thoughts on this. Think this will be ok for now... Problems... Etc...

As long as the old domain is still active with domain controllers etc then it doesn't matter. You will have to setup a trust and the relevant permissions. It is basically the resource domain model.

I figured that it would work that way but I've never setup one up that way before. I know I'll have to do the trust and everything but will I have to create the new users in both domains?

I guess it would be a linked mailbox huh... Is there a way to link the migrated users on migration or is that a manual deal?

take a look at the ADMT application, see if that helps.
