  • Checking deletion history in a public folder

This is a new one for me, but maybe there is a solution

    Exchange 2007 SP2 on Server 2008 SP2

User cleaned up a mail enabled public folder, deleting something like 1000 items and leaving a few.
Then user had a slip of the mouse and deleted the whole PF
Admin recovered the public folder using TOOLS-RECOVER DELETED ITEMS at the "All Public Folders" level. Unfortunately this did exactly what you would expect and recovered the folder, complete with the previously deleted content

This happened between backups, so a restore would not help.

Is there anything that might be logged to show when things were deleted to allow the wanted and unwanted items to be separated?

Failing that, someone will have to trawl through the folder again

Exchange doesn't log to the item level, so nothing will be logged.
The user who deleted the folder should do it, and perhaps they will be more careful in future.

Thanks, Simon -- that was my thought too, but I will have to put it diplomatically to them!
